The Making of Catwoman

Using Poser 8, I set up a base model and pose, and drew the base geometry with the round brush in Photoshop CS6. The time taken for it included a lot more of looking around for references than the actual drawing, which took not much time at all.

I drew a rough design overtop of the geometry, using the round brush. I also created the title in this way.

I drew a much-refined lineart over the digital rough I previously created, using the pen tool and round brush with flow and opacity controlled by pen pressure. I made the title with the text tool and the bevel and emboss and gradient overlay layer styles. Sadly, a good-sized portion of the time marked above was taken by detailing out Catwoman's whip.

Using the round brush, I set the base colors for the whole painting, as well as using the gaussian blur filter for the sky and moon.

I added stone texturing to the cathedral first. I then added more detail to the sky, before I shaded everything using the round brush set to pen pressure control, with the moon as the light source. I used the gaussian blur tool to add a glow to the Bat Signal, as well.

Finally, I added more shading to the whole piece. I also refined Catwoman's figure and the title. I added more detail to Catwoman's goggles by making a reflection of Gotham and Batman swinging towards her from the distance, and worked a bit more with the shadows of both her and her cat Isis. Finally, I added a secondary light source from the police cars' lights on the streets below, using the round brush and gaussian blur filter.
